How much does an electrical panel upgrade cost in Palm Coast?
It depends on the size of the service (100, 150, or 200 amps), the condition of the existing panel and meter can, and whether Florida Power & Light needs to be coordinated for a disconnect. Older homes with recalled panel brands or aluminum branch wiring can add scope. We give free, no-pressure quotes with a firm number before any work starts — call (386) 214-8830 or request an estimate online.
Who installs portable generator hookups and interlock kits in Palm Coast?
We do — it's one of our specialties. We install portable generator hookups, interlock kits, and transfer switches across Flagler and Volusia Counties, and with hurricane season every year it's one of the best investments a Florida homeowner can make. One important warning from years of fixing other people's installs: a code-compliant portable generator hookup must include the interlock kit and the 240-volt twist-lock generator cord. About half the setups we're called out to are missing one or both — usually because another electrician bid the job a few dollars cheaper by leaving them out. That cord carries 240 volts at 30 amps, and skipping the interlock is genuinely dangerous: it can backfeed the utility lines, destroy equipment, and start fires. When you compare quotes, make sure the interlock kit and cord are included — ours always are. (Whole-house standby generators aren't our line of work; we're happy to point you to someone good for those.)
Do you handle electrical repairs for home inspections when buying or selling a house?
Yes — this is a big part of our work. If a home inspection flagged electrical issues (double-tapped breakers, missing GFCI protection, open junction boxes, outdated panels), we repair exactly what the report calls out and provide documentation for the closing. We work with buyers, sellers, and real estate agents on tight closing timelines.
Are you licensed and insured?
Yes. Blondin Electric Inc is a Florida-licensed electrical contractor — license EC13003641 — and fully insured. You can verify our license anytime on the Florida DBPR website. All work is performed or supervised by a master electrician and done to current NEC code.
What areas do you serve?
We're based in Palm Coast and serve Flagler Beach, Hammock Dunes, Ormond Beach, Ormond-by-the-Sea, Daytona Beach, and surrounding communities throughout Flagler and Volusia Counties.
Do you install EV chargers and Tesla Wall Connectors?
Yes — we install Level 2 EV chargers and Tesla Wall Connectors, including the dedicated circuit and any panel work needed to support them. If your panel is near capacity, we'll tell you honestly what it takes rather than overselling you a service upgrade you don't need.
Can you add a dedicated circuit for a hot tub, sauna, or workshop?
Absolutely. Dedicated circuits (home runs straight from the panel) are the right way to power hot tubs, saunas, pool equipment, treadmills, massage chairs, welders, and workshop tools. We also wire pool panels, pool heaters, and pool bonding and grounding to code.
Do you take small jobs, like replacing a ceiling fan or moving an outlet?
Yes. Fan and light fixture replacements, adding or moving outlets and switches, three-way switches, smart switches and dimmers — we do it all, and the same licensed electricians who replace 200-amp services do your small jobs too. No job is too small to be done right.
Do you do commercial electrical work?
Yes — we handle small commercial work throughout Flagler and Volusia Counties alongside our residential service: build-outs, troubleshooting, panel work, and lighting. Call us with the scope and we'll tell you straight whether it's a fit.
Why are my lights flickering?
Flickering can be as minor as a loose bulb or as serious as a failing connection at the panel or meter — which is a fire risk and shouldn't wait. If flickering happens across multiple rooms, gets worse when large appliances kick on, or comes with warm outlets or breaker trips, call us for troubleshooting. Finding the real cause is our specialty.
Do you pull permits for electrical work?
Yes — on work that requires them, like panel changes, service upgrades, and generator interlock installs, the permit and inspection are part of the job. Small repairs like swapping an outlet, switch, or fan don't require a permit, and we won't charge you for paperwork the job doesn't need. Permitted work protects your insurance coverage and your home's resale value.
Why do EV charger plugs and cords burn up — and how do you prevent it?
Because an EV charger is the single biggest load in most homes — the car pulls heavy amperage continuously for 12+ hours, sometimes days. Cheap installs fail three ways: undersized wire from the panel, a standard receptacle instead of an EV-rated one (regular outlets aren't built for continuous load and overheat), and no GFCI protection. The National Electrical Code treats EV charging as a continuous load — the circuit must be sized at 125% of the charger's draw (NEC 625), and receptacles installed for EV charging require GFCI protection (NEC 625.54). We install properly sized copper wire, commercial/EV-rated receptacles, GFCI breakers, and quality materials throughout — because the alternative is a melted plug, a damaged charging cord, or worse.
Do you replace Federal Pacific (FPE) or Zinsco panels?
Yes — regularly. Federal Pacific and Zinsco panels are known fire hazards, and many insurance companies now require replacement before issuing or renewing a policy. We replace them with new Siemens, Square D, or Eaton equipment, permitted and inspected, and provide the documentation your insurer needs.
Is your work guaranteed?
Yes — we stand behind our workmanship. We're a family business that's been servicing the same community since 2007, our name is on every job, and most of our work comes from repeat customers and neighbor referrals. Every electrician on our crew has over 20 years of experience — including Nicole, who answers the phones. She's not just "the office": she's worked in the field alongside Mike for 20 years, from permits, inspections, and code questions to digging ditches and crawling attics. When you call with a question, you get someone who actually knows the answer. If something we did isn't right, we make it right.
Ready for a quote, or have a question we didn't answer?
